The idea for Live Event Artist came to DJ Miles Pelky while he watched someone paint on the beach. After auditioning several different artists, Miles found the business card of Tom Fagan, an artist who had recently painted a mural on one of the walls in Miles' home. Tom liked Miles' idea of painting a scene live at a wedding, so they tried it out at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. When the bride cried for joy, they knew they had a hit on their hands.

It takes Tom about five hours to create each treasured wedding scene, using acrylic paint on a 24-by-30 canvas. The average cost is $2,500.
